Anyone here uses Linkedin? And do the employers in your field use it to research a candidate before deciding whether to invite for interview? Curious to know on-the-ground experiences.

@celes Yes, they do that. Linkedin is a must-be nowadays. I have friends that got contacted via LinkedIn in order to work for other companies. This depends of course on how you "sell yourself". In my case, I got a job proposal and an offer to participate in a competition. So yes, it is important to have a modern/good-looking LinkedIn profile.

P.s. Germans also use XING :)

@dorinchiritoiu Thank you, this information is gold! For the firms that contacted you/your friends, do they tend to be American firms? And amazing on getting a job proposal + participation offer! What happened to it eventually; did you take them up?
@celes One was actually requiring knowledge in German, so not for me. The competition offer organised by Roland Berger was nice but they told me quite late about it. Had other plans. Regarding my friend, she is working for HP and got an offer from Google Ireland. She did not relocate as she is happy in her home country + has to finish her studies. Another friend got an offer from a start-up (marketing &sales) while already working for a company. He rejected it bcs he's happy with his job.
@dorinchiritoiu This is amazing knowledge, thank you-super appreciate it. Are you still in school? What are you studying? :)

@celes You are welcome :).
