Today isn't turning out to be quite what I had hoped for. But somehow I allowed myself to get distracted from doing stuff on the computer, and ended up sitting down for tea (by myself mostly, some coming and going with others) and I think that helped a lot with some of the long standing "things" that I haven't managed to "clear up" for a while. I wish I could give a bright and cheery "everything is great" but best I can do is "things aren't really that bad."

@JigmeDatse I once read something that struck me as brilliant--an answer to "How are you?"

"As well as can be."

This is always true for everyone, at any given moment. If we could be better we probably would be better, thus we're always as well as can be in the moment. Realizing this, and accepting it, has been a great comfort to me, especially with the knowledge that things change.

@Euphoria That tends to be pretty reasonable to how I try to view my life. Sadly, I get too tired of people who want me to be "fantastic" all the time, and even encourage me to lie because of their huge belief that everyone should be happy. It would be *great* if everyone was happy. But sometimes we just can't manage it. It sure doesn't help to be told to "be happy."
@JigmeDatse Well, lying seems silly but research has (supposedly) shown that if you /act/ happy you are likely to /feel/ happier. 🤷🏽
@Euphoria To some extent I think that is true. But if you try to force others into certain behaviour to "make them feel happier" it often results in them feeling even worse. Not saying suggesting it, neutrally is a bad idea. But repeating it over and over again is not going to help...

@JigmeDatse That's for sure! It implies that the person is unable to accept one as one is and instead of /that/ being a problem, they expect the person to change to make them happy.

People like that could use some robots with perpetually happy faces and cheery demeanors around. Then again, couldn't we all? Especially if the robots do housework. ;)

@Euphoria Maybe a robot doing housework is better than our current cleaning lady? Could it be programmed to keep the chatter to the minimum, at least with those who don't want to chatter with it?
@JigmeDatse It sure could if it's something like a Roomba. ;) I'm sure someone will come up with robots that can clean more one day in the near future, like window cleaning drones. I expect to see those any day now.
@Euphoria I don't really mind cleaning, I just keep finding myself falling behind.
@JigmeDatse I find that it's still there when I'm ready to do the cleaning. ;)
@Euphoria Yes, but usually it sneaks off into the corner and makes more cleaning.
@JigmeDatse One could almost imagine it's alive. ;)
