i forgot to come here.

habits die hard, & new habits take regular practice to form.

@bonstewart Hoping some positive reinforcement might help...
@bonstewart Indeed! Come chat with us; we're friendly. @Tdorey
@fgraver @bonstewart @Tdorey I keep remembering because when I first got on Mastodon I did it every day for about a week. And got so rewarded with such wonderful convos that not only did it become a habit, it became one I look forward to each evening (most evenings, at least), and stay up late doing even thought I should sleep. Like now.

@clhendricksbc @fgraver @bonstewart Increasingly it feels to me like a forest escape.
Conversations grow, connect and spread out in different directions. It provides shelter and allows new ideas to germinate. A place to think.
And breathe.

When I get busy, I forget about it for a while - until I need to escape.
Then I remember. And return.
And am so much better for it.

@Tdorey @bonstewart @fgraver @clhendricksbc What a beautiful image, a forest escape.

I come here to escape also.. Well to relax. Which I seem to remember to do every couple of days without notifications. I used to think it was notifications that were key to social media engagement

@mahabali That's the key, isn't. Most other social media constantly reminds me to check, engage,... it can get exhausting. I come here every day because I want to and find it both restful and engaging.

I still believe it's due to a big helping of serendipity... A happy meeting of an open and inviting environment with a group of open and inviting people. :)

@fgraver @mahabali @Tdorey @bonstewart @clhendricksbc This is so interesting: I've found the same. I was formerly very notification driven, and now unread email is in the bazillions and I come here just to see what's happening, who's about.
@katebowles @fgraver @mahabali @Tdorey @bonstewart I've been without internet for a couple of days and found that the only thing I missed was conversations here! So I came back here the first thing when internet came back.
@clhendricksbc @katebowles @fgraver @mahabali @bonstewart Interesting huh? When this site went down for a while yesterday, I spent a bit of time back on the bird site. Found a tweet chain between two people I know but didn't think knew each other. Here, it would have turned into a rich conversation. There, it became "Congrats & let's plan to catch up!"
@Tdorey Very Interesting! I'm so off & on internet right now I didn't even know. Enjoying holiday off, out of town.
