It's a black day for #russian internets: a bill draft was proposed by Russian government that bans usage of #VPN, #Tor, and other anonymizers. This happened only 10 days after a Tor exit node administrator #DmitryBogatov was arrested. Being anonymous is now a crime in Russia... #freeBogatov https://rublacklist.net/27859/
@Xenia how does the public feel about this. I always see high approval ratings of the current Russian government (especially Putin) but I've always wondered if that is just forced support. Do people who support Putin also support more restrictions on their internet usage?
@Xenia well, in China, government dare not admit internet censorship nor do they use judicial process and arrest someone. They just shutdown the network of territorial VPNs, but those run in Hong Kong are not affected, even those actually controlled by mainland citizens, so, in fact, they just turn a blind eye to them.
@Xenia Hmm, so Vladimir Putin is finally aligning his cyber-policy with Theresa May.
