Thinking: the difference between mastodon as a bundle of replicable open source affordances; and mastodon as a forming common ground community of very unlike types taking care with one another's needs and interests.

I can see why critical educators will jump away to a specialist instance and I'm keen to do this work, but while we're here I am really loving what I'm learning about human capacity to trust and share.

@katebowles I think the organic nature /happening of this has a special attraction. Would something that is intentionally purposeful and designed to be for a wider audience work? ... can people be invited/told post hoc - or is there something in the co-creation? I'm sure it would work, but might take active something. ...a parallel could be like taking the pasta out of Italy, needs care to make it taste the same at home...
@lauraritchie my hunch: early stage work is still happening so I find myself thinking to mention this to people who I know are community builders. What it is now isn't what it can be. Some people may prefer to wait and see what that is. I don't mind the early stage, the sitting on fruit boxes feel.
