@selectnull @pixel Well, the core aspect of OStatus based networks (decentralization and federation) makes it possible that users on different instances can talk to each other
and if everyone is on the same instance, that kinda goes against the entire principle of it.
@pixeldesu @pixel so is it difficult to change the instance? do you need to manually follow everyone? basically, you created new account, right?
@selectnull @pixel I just got told that there is an export option in the preferences where you can export and import your follow list to other instances, if you switch
and yes, you have to create other accounts, there's no real migration.
@pixeldesu @pixel that would mean that even you follow other people again, they don't need to necessarily follow you back. so i guess it's not really recommended, right?
@selectnull @pixel pretty much, but you should not have to switch instances anyway.
As you can follow anyone on any instance, you just need one account basically.
I switched because I got a handle I wanted and to get off the main instance, to promote the federation a bit! :P

@selectnull @pixel probably not a good practise, because I do not want to hoard them either
but due to impersonation etc. concerns, you cannot delete your accounts either.
