Amazing how it's possible to take a sort of free-software-y idea like gnu-social and then all you have to do is make it nice and interesting and easy to use and everyone likes it.
@sil and give it a friendly mascot!

@sil User Experience matters. It really, really matters. It matters enough that the biggest social networks in the world hire full-time UX engineers specifically to ensure the interfaces are attractive.

Did I mention that UX matters? Good.

@Zenwood

@wogan @[email protected] this is in fact precisely the point I was making. :-)
@sil Would that we had a blueprint for such things.

*buntu
@sil Precisely why open source wins in the long run, just needs more designers contributing! :)
@sil @david still a free software! Design, develop, repeat.
@sil indeed, cool person on the cool server guy
@sil tis the icing that sells the cake
@sil it's almost like how you use something is as important as what it can do :p
@sil Isn't this true of anything that's made nice and interesting? ;)
@Euphoria yup! This is roughly the point I was attempting to underline :)
@sil Oh, and I can't believe I forgot to reiterate "easy to use" as that's key!
@sil for a very specific definition of "everyone" :P
