I tried to watch Independence Day Resurgence hoping it'd be the enjoyable kind of bad movie. Didn't make it more than 10 minutes.

I don't care what genre a movie is, "summer blockbuster" doesn't excuse you from being terrible. Do your job, writers and directors. Not this lazy crap.

What I saw of the special effects was impressive, so kudos to those artists. Sorry you got hitched to a crap movie, but good work.

@pseudomichael I think the problem with the movie (for people who want something that makes sense) is that they put themselves in the position of trying to top the original. Where do you go from there, except into exaggeration after exaggeration. I enjoyed the movie but not because I felt it was a great science fiction movie. I just enjoyed the actors having fun, especially Judd Hirsch.
