Almost every article I've read states that the service has shut down new registrations. Perhaps they should include a list of available Instances readers can sign up on.

Ps: this wasn't a negative article. But would offer more value if the writer were clear re: new registrations and where/how to sign up.

@gustavoramos Yes. But mostly where. Social has closed off new sign ups but there are other available instances.

@gustavoramos I went through the list and there are quite a few niche ones. But Cloud is open. And it's kinda the same. (I think.)

@NattyGov just joined this instance. I've read somewhere that I have to follow people from the main instance to see those posts in federated? Could you help me out?

@blumenmarkt Are you on Cloud? I follow the federated timeline and it works for me. Consists of users from my local instance (Cloud) and the main/primary (Social).

If you're trying to find friends on another instance then @ them with their username + instance. It functions like an email address.

@NattyGov They could replace the comment section with an embed. I really think this could be a decent replacement for disqus. I really need to be arsed to make it that myself, but I'm just sat here looking at the federated stream thinking "any second now I'm gonna open atom and start working through the code. yep any second now"
