I'm wondering what kind of portable computer you'd have if money was no object, if you could have any computer in the world.

I was so thrilled for a long with the iPod Touch 3 that I got in 2010, until the apps stopped working & it could no longer be synced because the machines it had been synced with were long dead.

@Euphoria I would choose a Pixel Chrome with SSD and lots of RAM and firepower ;)
@Goofyman Interesting. I seem to have a (perhaps unwarranted) aversion to anything Chrome. I will have another look at the Pixel Chrome.
@Euphoria I have an aversion to anything apple ;) I am not a fan of apple not because of its shinny devices, but I have this obsession to free and open web as tim burners lee has envisioned. by the way, Pixel Chromebook was the best, but maybe not best today on the market after two or three years.

@Goofyman I also seem to have an aversion to Apple products now, which is ironic, as I was a very loyal Apple user since the mid-Eighties.

Thanks for the update about the Pixel Chromebook. I'm wondering how different devices age, too.

@Euphoria About Chromebooks, they are alternative computing device, which work like charm if you have fast speed connection to internet because you don't even need a hard drive, everything is stored on Google Drive. It is nerdy and polished and you stand out from icrowds.
@Goofyman Ah, yes, thank you for reminding me why it wouldn't work for me. Fast, reliable Internet is not something I have available and I really need local storage. capabilities. Even my Kindle Fire has a microSD slot.
@Euphoria Chromebook Pixel. For £799 you get a 2.2Ghz Intel Core i5 Processor, 8GB RAM, and 32 GB SSD. For £999 you get a 2.4Ghz Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and 64 GB SSD.

@Goofyman If only the fast, reliable Internet connection came with it!

We don't even have 4G here. ;)

@Euphoria Then a decent Macbook Pro would do the job? You don't need be online all the time if you can enjoy the beach when you are not stuck with computers ;)
@Goofyman "Decent" is the keyword here. I'd like something with a lot of power, that will let me open as many windows and tabs and apps as I want to and know that all my work, whether online or off, would be safely waiting for me to continue when I return. I tend to be involved in many things at once. My old MacBook Pro outgrew my usage, or maybe it was that the apps swelled too much.
@Euphoria I would come by multiple devices if I were you, one macbook, one pixel chromebook, one tablet maybe
@Goofyman LOL You wouldn't be me then. I'm trying to minimize and downsize. I've got way too many devices already, none of which does exactly what I want it to how I'd like it to. Oddly the Kindle Fire comes closest.
@Euphoria Podcasting your gourmet food, Caribbean dishes worldwide?
@Goofyman Although, obviously, podcasts generally don't have video or photos, do they? But it seems like a food show would need them.
@Euphoria What you need is video streaming, or photo stream which is less demanding for bandwidth.
@Goofyman Thanks, I'll keep this in mind. :smiley_cat:
