I believe it's possible that I've had more personal interactions with people in a half a day on Mastodon than I've had in eight years on Twitter.
@Euphoria I had that thought earlier, it made me wonder how I've spent my time.... it makes me feel more alive when I keep hearing all these insights and experiences that I can totally relate to.

@Michael_Spencer Are you involved with the inception of Mastodon?

Feeling more alive is great. Hopefully it's the start of a new trend.

@Euphoria I'm just a digital nomad that is pretty clueless about the Mastodon, but I like building legends and seeking out alternatives.

Well I'm talking to Euphoria, I'm on the right track to to feeling more alive.

@Euphoria interesting right? I wonder if it's the quality of the character of those that have found this place, or the lack of inhibitions here. It is certainly groundbreaking!
It seems to be, @Mike , though it's possible that some people have had similar experiences during the inception of other new networks. I joined tribe.net back in the early 2000's and there was a similar vibe, but then the site stopped working well. Someone sent me an invitation to Facebook, which was a whole other thing. Many of us have tried other networks since then, but this is the first one with a similar vibe, IMO.
@Euphoria exactly. LG here because the vibe is so good. My hopes are that is stays that way
@Mike It will if we follow the right people. ;) I've already discovered a bunch of amazing people I never came across on other sites, even though the geeks and nerds are usually the early adopters. I don't really live in that world anymore, but I still relate.
@Euphoria ding ding! This is what makes this an interesting place. I have not replied and @ mentioned a single person here who didn't want to engage and have a conversation. Other offerings you hit trolls and jerks who want to belittle because that is what they do

@Mike Alas, they're bound to show up here eventually too. But not yet, which is awesome.

I don't have a clue how long this platform's been around. I joined some other promising ones near the beginning but lost interest in them before they really took off. I couldn't even remember what ello was called when I was trying to think of it earlier and seem to have lost my cookies.

@Euphoria I know, the clock is ticking. But the #optimist in me wants to believe there is a place where it won't just turn to shit like every other place.
@Mike We can hope, and maybe it'll be true. And if not there's always blocking.
@Euphoria an interesting question asked by @Michael_Spencer was: should we block brands? Made me think. As difficult as this answer may be, I think no. But, as odd as this may sound, I think blocking blokes that follow brands is the right thing to do and would keep this place a community
@Mike @Michael_Spencer I'm not really sure what you mean about blocking blokes that follow brands, but I'm all for blocking trolls, and never hesitate to block them, or anyone else that's impolite or seems to be searching for a way to condemn me, just for the hell of it.
@Euphoria @Michael_Spencer I guess what I was trying to say is people that would follow brands and seek out news are not the people that build community.
@Mike @Michael_Spencer Except maybe with others like themselves. ;) "Birds of a feather...."
