Twitter sued Customs and Border Protection for trying to unmask one of their pseudonymous alt agency accounts. Within 24 hours of Twitter filing the lawsuit, the government withdrew its subpoena. What happened here?

I explain it all: https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/alt-twitter-account-trump-customs-lawsuit

@sarahjeong "By suing, and by revealing the summons to the world, Twitter lawyered up quickly." is a weird sentence. did something get chopped up in the editing process?
@Kit_ you are correct that was an error
@sarahjeong Keep posting on Mastodon, it is the Secret Garden and Twitter is the island from Lord of the Flies.
@sarahjeong sarah i hope vice are paying you well for this
@sarahjeong and if they're not that danny's figuring out a way for you to be eff's content director or someone else is doing something similar because 💯 what you're doing

@sarahjeong Given that no Mastodon instance operator will have the funds to mount an effective defence against a nation state, do you think the EFF would be the most likely good samaritan??

Asking for a friend. 😉

@sarahjeong Just saying thanks for your reporting. Thanks!
