I would like to formally apologize for and recant the comments I made earlier this week about wanting to block, mute or filter out comments of different languages (I specifically mentioned German and French, I think). I knew at the time that what I was asking for was very selfish and rooted in my own heightened valuation of myself and my own experience on masto over the experiences of others, and did it anyway, and I am very sorry. Masto is for everyone everywhere, and they should feel welcome.
@thethinktanker You deserve a baguette for that apology. Vivons in harmony my friend
@thethinktanker I'd be interested to hear a different #perspective on what I'm about to say, but my thought is this:
I don't care for Boston sports teams, or the results of reality television, or restaurant reviews in my friends' home towns. By no means are those things unimportant or should be silenced, but I would simply prefer to ignore them. I would appreciate filters or mutes for such topics. I believe content in other languages is an extension of this line of thought.
@thethinktanker You know what ? That type of reply, this is precisely *why* I fight for the Internet.
Thank you.
@thethinktanker Got to respect someone who can loudly, publicly recant.

@thethinktanker

Only fools and dead men don't change their minds.
You're nothing like that
