i've been using whatever Ubuntu three at my face for he last ten years. is it worth it to try to put windowmaker on top of it?
windowmaker on slackware is the environment i'm most nostalgic for, but i'm much too lazy to put in place now

@dunhamrc Dude: apt install wmaker and take your pick of setting it as your default or adding it to your ~/.xsessionrc file.

(I'm old school.)

Frankly, wmaker /flies/ on modern kit, and is rock-fucking solid. Some of the dock apps can be semi-unsupported. I've never been a fan of the massively integrated desktops, and have a tweaked set of preferences I've been using for 2 decades.
