so, like, what's the general difference between instances? where the instance with all the Cool Kids? Does it even matter which one you're on?

@esworp I would argue it DOES matter to a certain extent. Being able to communicate between instances assumes that all the instances are federated, but this is not necessarily the case. Not every single one is to connected to every single other one, so you could potentially be missing out on stuff.
