@Nine right?! It's so clever! I've always liked the idea of parry/counter/cancel mechanics but they tend to be in very demanding games my reflexes just aren't up to. Also this is a good way to handle the modern reality of never knowing how much lag a player's gaming setup will introduce to an action game. Brawlers are easily understood (that's why they were so popular!)... it would also be cool to have per-player settings so co-op partners could have an equal challenge relative to their ability.
