Sonya Mann ✅The most unfortunate feature of Mastodon is that you can't see many posts outside of the instance that you're on. Not such a big deal if you're on mastodon.social with most of the other people, but it's brutal if you're elsewhere. Possibly a value-killer. GnuSocial seems to handle this better? I'm not certain about the parameters of the behavior in either case. @Gargron
Rysiekúr (old account)@sonya @Gargron having been a #StatusNet / #GNUSocial (and also #Diaspora and #Friendica) user for quite some time, my experience is that it gets better as more people follow each other on different instances. The more they do, the more posts actually federate between instances, as (AFAIK) only posts of users followed are federated from remote instances.
Eugen Rochko@Gargron @sonya on that vein: how about #MastodonMonday, where people suggest other people to follow -- but preferably from small, less popular instances?
