Is anyone #onhere an open source software lawyer? :P
Just asking because I need help ensuring licenses/copyright is in order and I need do trademark stuff properly too.
I'm trying to write a trademark policy: https://gist.github.com/Gargron/8287a6d961397ad3b877d6c0cfa8352e But I am not a lawyer and haven't done this before. Feel free to give me some feedback. I hope the spirit of the policy is clear - tl;dr use Mastodon trademarks for Mastodon stuff, don't pretend like you're official endorsed though, don't sell faux-official merch without permission, don't name your company stuff like "the Mastodon company"
@Gargron Does this mean Iโ€™m no longer a co-owner / co-founder ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ˜…
@Gargron I could ask Dr. Michael Stehmann, if this helps. He is a lawyer and active in the legal network of FSFE. I don't know whether he does free software law himself, but I'm sure he could refer you to someone who does.
@stefanieschulte I am worried about bothering such high profile people. Like. This isn't about Java vs Google type stuff. I just need some minor trademark legalese and advice about CLAs
@Gargron I'm not a lawyer myself, but I think a lot of free software related legal stuff is exactly the kind you're describing. And Michael is quite a normal person, as far as I know ๐Ÿ˜‰... He might know who would be the right person for this kind of job (I think).

@Gargron This was one of Michael's talks (about free software licencing): https://wiki.fsfe.org/Events/Rhein-Main%202016-03-02?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=Lizenzen-2015.odp

This is the homepage of his law office: http://www.rechtsanwalt-stehmann.de/

I think you could simply approach him directly, if you're interested. Say hello to him from Stefanie Schulte, if you like.
