Please add materials, research, and articles that you feel will be useful to our work in asking the right questions and drafting the policies of the 7th pillar.

I am fairly confident of our core values and philosophy – my greatest concern is that we cover all aspects of the problem, not miss anything, and have the concerns of as diverse a gamut of voices reflected as possible.

@aral Would love to contribute, but the forum is not accessible via Tor. Could you please pass https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/org/doc/ListOfServicesBlockingTor#HowtounblockTorusers on to the forum admins, as you are probably in touch with them? It's quite ironic that somebody who uses Tor to defend their digital rights becomes unable to contribute to a political movement concerned with digital rights… :)
@lynX Will do, thanks for letting me know.
@aral Good news. The forum is no longer behind a Cloudflare paywall! Some peeps are silently doing their best… ;)
@aral Oh no! Today diem25.org is behind Cloudflare again!! Who is playing yo-yo with our digital freedoms!? Please rewrite that website in such a way that it can scale without the need of surveillance companies!
@lynX Sorry, man, I never had any say in the internal tech decisions (that’s why I was running for CC on that one issue and why I resigned from the Advisory Committee – advice not taken is not worth much, after all and wastes everyone’s time). Afaik, @JudithMeyer is the person to speak to about internal tech matters.
@aral @JudithMeyer I know I know, we just happened to have that conversation so far, so I picked up the thread. I was able to register and write to the forum some weeks ago, now I can't contribute experience on the difficult "electoral wing" issue. Knowing the requirements for participatory structures I am more in favour of a transnational party architecture than @Wessel_Dublin, but I pretty much agree on the conditions.
@lynX @JudithMeyer @aral Let me just say I'm not at all against a transnational party architecture. I only have my doubts regarding the way the discussion has been facilitated, the vote is orchestrated and - indeed - whether enough safeguards are in place to avoid the same old fallacies of political parties: to concentrate power in the hands of a few

Nov 1st: A fateful vote for the future of DiEM? How we would like the CC to coordinate…

@Wessel_Dublin Yes, I see some history potentially repeating…

Nov 1st: A fateful vote for the future of DiEM? - Forum | connect

Update: I have now been reported what @JudithMeyer posted to the DiEM25 Forum regarding the interpretation of the 'electoral wing' and it seems like no actually problematic decision is to be taken: whatever DiEM chooses, to remain a movement, to become a party, or to try and be both at the same time — all of these variants can be implemented with reasonable inner participation and justice – or not. @Wessel_Dublin
@lynX @JudithMeyer What post are you referring to? Could you post the link here? In any case, we're working on a "yes, but" proposal, that could mitigate some of the problems we foresee (would like to hear your opinion on it) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i7uC62sU-kBPLJb-ow3YObeyJJdF8lA4K6NpHQLtHmc/edit#
"Yes, but" Proposal

“YES” to “Not another political party” BUT under some conditions Introduction We support the passionate outcry of the CC and a big part of our movement to start acting to combat the great crises and injustices we face in Europe and beyond. In principle, we therefore also support the idea to star...

@Wessel_Dublin Sorry, google docs is another no-go zone for me… it's on the diem25.org/forum somewhere…
@lynX I understand, but it's a necessary evil in this case because people will need an easy-to-access place to work on the document during the DiEM Cafe (with suggestion-mode etc.). We normally use ether- or framapad but for this purpose it won't work. The proposal will be posted on the forum after input from the Cafe (sometime next week)
So our work isn't done, but this deadline apparently isn't the threat to the future of DiEM as it first sounded to be…
In the meantime, Sergio has posted his proposal to the forum. I would want to discuss it, since it is 75% like what I would propose… but since the forum is not freely accessible, I guess somebody else from the DSC Berlin will publish our work on completion.
@lynX You're still very welcome to join our DiEM Cafe tomorrow, if you can be on Zoom, to discuss that proposal with fellow DiEM members.
