forever bitter this place went business as usual after damn near every woman of color was pushed away from the site and that eugen's answer of "build your own instance" was accepted and repeated as though access has never been an issue.
@spinach I wasn't even aware of that happening, but fuck, that's not okay
@spinach :/ I figured something was up after natasha left and this place is souring on me pretty quickly the more I hear about what happened.

the flagship masto instance is always going to be one of the biggest instances and the one people associate with the network. moderation failing POC there is extra inexcusable
@spinach Do you have more information about this? First I've heard of it so I'm curious. I'm sorry that you've had issues on here. Here's a pineapple. :pineapple:
@Drewry @spinach the poc on m.s perceived persistent low-level microaggression; some accidents, some not. finally it blew up one day when a serious vent was replied to with a joke. it became sides-taking and rumors for days. eventually eugen was pinned as the scapegoat for not moderating anything. awoo.space opened afterwards, because somehow federation was the solution to m.s governance? after people left, it blew over
@Triplefox @spinach ick. sorry to hear that. Moderation and identity are both gonna be big issues for mastodon to tackle, going forward. new instances only help if they themselves are able to moderate effectively. Meaning people willing to moderate and effective tools to aid in that pursuit.
@spinach do they need help with instance building? I give no shits about other instances but do give a shit about access.
