A few days ago I went to a welcome-home potluck for one of the guys I worked with in San Quentin. He had been incarcerated since he was a teenager and was finally deemed suitable for parole (he's in his late 40s now). I can't tell you the joy that beamed out of his face at this potluck, and his enthusiasm to see all of us in the program outside of prison.
Never underestimate the importance of prisoner support.
