I'm a materialist. Still, I can't help but feel a tug of spirituality when I think about the sheer scale of human social structures and how it all springs from replicating proteins. The human species stands uniquely in its capacity to project and sustain mental structures that become the central reality through which the species develops. The ruling class maintains entrapment within the reverberations of historical atrocities.
