@ketanjoshi.co for centuries public parks in Edinburgh have been free of any wheeled vehicles. Carts, carriages trams and bicycles have all tried and failed to get access. But since 1990 the barriers are now down and some parks and many footpaths are absolutely dominated by fast-moving E bikes which could and should be on the 20mph city roads.

@peterbrown @ketanjoshi.co I absolutely hate those scooters 🤬 They are often tailored to far over their allowed speed and zoom past you on the pavement, without a care in the world and no respect! Many do not even bother with a helmet... The Palestine Action is incorrectly placed under control, but the crying need for rules and regulations for scooters not. What does that say about justice? It is similar here in Luxembourg 🤢

@peterbrown @ketanjoshi.co Making cyclists share the road with cars is a good way to kill a massive amount of cyclists. It's one of the most dangerous possible traffic mixes. If cyclists are using footpaths, it's likely because the area is lacking proper cycling infrastructure. Direct your anger towards the city councils deep in bed with the car industry, instead of at your fellow carfree commuters.

@engideer @ketanjoshi.co there is hardly a main road in the city that does not have a cycle lane.
And 90% of city streets have a 20 mph speed limit.

The city has been quite successful in reducing private vehicle numbers and increasing cycling numbers, and I can see no need whatsoever to convert city parks into cyclists speedways.

There is now nowhere you can go with a toddler or an elderly person without continually having to be on the lookout for fast bicycles.

On busier streets (40mph) I see them in the bike lane, and around here the bike lanes are not protected. California is very car-centric, but we now have lots of EVs.
