I will never, EVER be a #Republican.

But lately I wonder if I can still be a #Democrat.

#Antisemitism is not now, nor was it ever, limited to the left. But whereas it was frequently tolerated on the right, most on the left treated it as wrong, and sidelined any characters who promoted it.

Now, prominent #antisemites feel right at home in the Democratic party. Democrats regularly engage in apologetics for characters like Mamdani, Graham Platner, and others; or worse, find no need to defend them at all.

The far left has fallen for the incoherent #Palestinian narrative hook, line, and sinker, much to the delight of terrorists the world over. Instead of shunning them, Democrats regularly talk about how to find candidates who would be more appealing to voters who are comfortable with the idea of murdering Israeli men, women, and children.

I will not vote for Republicans, and I will not vote for antisemites or antisemite apologists. I hope that leaves me with SOMEBODY to vote for nonetheless.

@escott

Jews an Arabs must learn to live together in peace. This is the promise of diversity within the Democratic Party.
We must acknowledge the humans on both sides of this war that will continue to suffer if we don't allow both sides a safe space to have the chance at peace. That conversation must be had in rational tones and without malice and that can happen in the Democratic Party. It will take time and patience to find a solution for Arabs and Jews to trust again.

@Jazone

But this isn't really about Jews and Arabs living in peace within the levant, but rather the position of Jews within the West, specifically the US.

There's no war in Cleveland, or New York, and yet the mayor of NYC, the city with the largest number of Jews in the world, says "They move millions in dark money... to turn us against each other. We need not live in fear of monsters any longer." as he blocks a bill to stop people from "protesting Israel" outside synagogues.

@escott

@serge @escott

It's obviously not the right environment now, nor are there willing participants in the pubic area. Netanyahu and Abbas are both old butchers but Israel has a greater responsibility to maintain restraint in this conflict as the beneficiary of the US and European coalition. Israel's conduct will face criminal investigation and so will Palestine's.
None of what I've laid out for you should prevent us from stopping the suffering of the innocent stuck in the middle.

@Jazone

But none of that has anything to do with the US and antisemitism in the US, and that association between the actions of the Israeli government and Jews in the US, Canada, Europe, etc. is antisemitism. It's the idea that Jews in one place are somehow responsible or accountable for the actions of others.

So let's talk about US antisemitism which is what @escott 's post was about.

@serge @escott

I mentioned it's not the right environment now. Fascism is attempting to wipe out any chance of peace between Arabs and Jews so the corporate overlords can profit from war while both sides kill each other.

We must win back a space for peace to happen within the Democratic Party. Mamdani is obviously NOT A messenger for peace when he uses language and actions that burn bridges. He will correct his behavior or overstep. Let fate decide NYC politics.

@Jazone

> Let fate decide NYC politics.

That sounds like "Let's not get into NYC politics", which fair enough but then why, when the topic is disenfranchised Jewish Democrats, should we leave NYC politics but at the same time bring up politics from a country thousands of miles away which @escott doesn't have citizenship of?

This doesn't make any sense to me.

@serge @escott

I was discussing ways to create a public space within the Democratic Party as a vehicle for peace between Arabs and Jews as the discussion moved towards your position that US Jews are Disenfranchised. The Palestinians are Disenfranchised as well. Southern Black Americans are Disenfranchised. Hatians with refugee status are being deported.
We are disenfranchising many people in the United States. It's not only Jews. The neglect is real that has brought circumstances here.

@Jazone

Okay, I'm going to call this what it is:

De-centering and antisemitic.

It's de-centering because no one brought up Arabs, no one brought up Israel except you, when the conversation was about Jews and the way Jews have been attacked in the US. It's like if someone is talking about anti-Black racism and someone goes "What about Asian Hate?"- important but not the conversation. It's furthered by your "Other people are disenfranchised too"- Take your "All Lives Matter" and put it where the sun doesn't shine.

And you also brought up Israel and Netanyahu when the topic was not Israel. this is antisemitic because it's collective responsibility and punishment.

This is antisemitic harassment and hate speech.

Your harassment is unwanted. Go away.

@escott

@serge @escott

I'm actually trying to create the space necessary for peace here.

You're not hearing it because you're only interested in the personal stigma in this discussion.

Block me if you wish but you are simply not interested in truth.

@Jazone

"You only care about your own personal stigma"- the topic was antisemitism. You're de-centering Jews talking about the ways they've been subject to abuse and pushed out of public life and your response is to be antisemitic to them.

It's gross, it's hateful and you should feel ashamed of yourself. And we've both told you to stop and you haven't, you continue, never apologizing.

And I've now told you to go away and you haven't listened. Consent has been withdrawn from you in this conversation already once and you persist. That is continued harassment.

Go away. You're unwelcome.

@escott

@serge
"Jews an Arabs must learn to live together in peace."
My attempt was not to offend but to offer a space for peace.
My apologies for this poor attempt.
