Despite the headline, doesn't seem the VPs learned:

'“Artificial intelligence is a fantastic tool, but it’s only as good as the information you use to train it,” said Charles Poon, Ford’s vice president of vehicle hardware engineering.'

@ohad I still cannot comprehend why management believes those engineers can be replaced. If they do believe so, then what do they think those engineers had been doing in the first place? Does it imply the management thinks engineers get their paychecks by autopiloting all the way through, and making all kinds of mistakes in the process?
@y11feng No idea, but I think upper management truly lives in a world where saying the right-sounding thing with the right-seeming pictures can get you anything you want.
@y11feng (To the rest of us who live in a more real world 'anything you want' only lasts a short while, but by that point the manager in question has moved on (out or up) so that their successors can blame it on something (including the previous manager).
@ohad Why do Charles Poon et al still have their jobs given they effed up so badly?

@ohad Deference to cliché persists.

(Appetite may weaken if production costs – or Present Value of investments – incline towards zero)
