Going on in Germany at the same time:

1. A new 1500 page report concludes the far-right party AfD seeks to undermine democracy in Germany.

2. Being the biggest party in Germany, AfD polls at 28 percent.

A full party merger would be a mistake, IMO. But they need to work together in coalition. Even so, in most European countries that won't be enough to sustain a government.
