the roamerGollly, I am speechless. This is most remarkable. Most remarkable. One of those things that one doesn't expect and once one knows them they make absolute sense.
I get a great deal of comfort out of your essay, somehow. It tells my that my own many and messy detours in life aren't detours after all, but essential parts of who I am.
I does seem to me that your criticism of your younger self is deeply unfair on both your current and your earlier selves, but I recognise that this is not for me to judge, please forgive me that I mention it. I really enjoyed reading this piece. I thank your for writing it.
