Wow, #newsboat is actually pretty usable at 1200 #baud! #respect! :D (sent from tootme on my #FreeBSD #thinkpad running at 110 baud 😄) — #microblogging #MicroToot: 137 characters

@rl_dane if it becomes too much of a drag, you can use rss2email to snag your RSS feeds and then read them with your local MUA, whether mutt(1) or even mail(1) 😆

@gumnos

lol but email is so much worse than RSS. XD

I mean, don't get me wrong, I love #RSS. But I get the stress it makes people feel, too. ;)

@rl_dane

For me, the dislike/stress of email comes from folks being able to send me stuff even when I don't want it or have unsubscribed (with a catch-all email box I hand out site-specific email addresses like they're candy, so I can see who has shared the address I've given them, and can cut them off as readily).

But with rss2email, I'm in control of what it sends me and how frequently (I opt for once daily), so I find that notably less stressful. 🙂

@rl_dane The last time I used anything running at baud, I was trialing #AOL, #Compuserve, and #Prodigy.

Kids these days have no idea what they were missing.

@peteorrall

Yeah, [trickle] is great for bringing back dialup shell access and #BBS vibes. XD

(As is SyncTerm for connecting to telnet BBSes. You can limit the baud rate in the client)

@rl_dane Whoa that's neat.

Isn't it? Great little utility. I think all TUI application (and especially TUI framework) developers should test their projects with trickle/tritty.

@rl_dane @peteorrall I'm glad my little kqueue learning project turned out to be useful!
