@neocarto it’s very very impressive, but I wonder how much the projection changes the data ; for example around Newcastle upon Tyne, the road is at ~ 45° to the "reference polyline", so even if the density were constant, you would see a peak around that, wouldn’t you ?
@ced I'm quite sure those are regularly spaced road distances on the graph, that's also why the "pointer" between the road and the graph is usually a bit slanted when you move the black slider.

@menos oh I see, looks like you’re right; it can be a bit unintuitive
when zoomed in on a very irregular part (like Berwick-upon-Tweed), but all in all this works really well.
