The 45-Minute Study Fuel Window

The science

A study in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found that eating complex carbs and moderate protein about 30 to 60 minutes before sustained mental work helps keep blood glucose steady. That means fewer cognitive crashes in the middle of your study session.

What to actually do

45 minutes before your study block. Eat oatmeal with a scoop of peanut butter. (1/3)

30 minutes out. Drink about a cup of water with a tiny pinch of sea salt.

10 minutes out. Do about 20 jumping jacks to get blood flowing to your brain.

Then start working.

A couple of things to avoid

High sugar snacks will spike your glucose then crash it within 20 minutes. Heavy fats pull blood toward digestion and away from your brain, so skip those too.

What you can expect (2/3)

This won't turn you into a different person. But it can help you push through 90 minute study blocks without hitting that wall of brain fog or sudden snack cravings halfway through.
