I feel like I should be able to reorder items under the Locations section of a Finder sidebar. I feel like this used to be a thing or am I misremembering?

You can reorder items under Favorites, just not Locations. Not sure why or what the technical limitation would be that they couldn't let this be a thing?

@marioguzman you can re-order Disks and thats about it
I just tried... what the heck? Favorites though is still arrangeable on my end.
@marioguzman I can reorder physical drives/volumes in macOS 27, but not things like iCloud, AirDrop or Network. It’s odd.
@holgr @marioguzman @marioguzman Frequently-accessed file server/screen sharing machines are in the locations list alphabetically by name, right after volumes. I can see why those wouldn't be allowed to be re-ordered.

@puppethead @marioguzman Dunno, why bother with that when you can freely drag volumes around?

Also: let’s say it’s buggy. ;) #betalive

No sign of home or paperless, both on a NAS, in the sidebar (yes, it’s turned on in settings).

@holgr @marioguzman Maybe it's only Mac file/screen share that show in the locations list? That's all I've got on my network.
@puppethead @marioguzman It gets better: After dragging paperless into the sidebar manually I can’t move it. But I can move T9, Macintosh HD, and T9TM around it at will. Makes no sense to me. 😅
@marioguzman Doesn't work on Tahoe as well, but what’s interesting is that they swapped locations and favorites.
@ricobeck You can swap them yourself if you drag the section headers. Drag the "Favorites" label down.
@marioguzman Sequoia lets you re-order disks in Locations, but it's flaky. Most of the stuff in your Locations is under Favorites on Sequoia, where it works fine.
@jlfischer I knew I wasn’t crazy. I thought this had been a thing. Maybe they just disabled it because it was wonky. Ha
@marioguzman you can in Sequoia, but there appears to be a bug where you can move one of the locations once, and then it stops working
