Well great. tilda, a dropdown terminal, chokes on 0xfe0f (variation selector 16). Which is to say "The that was an emoji character." The output bugs out, displays half of the first character of the line, and suddenly terminal input has 1 second latency.

gdb unfortunately started using that variation selector, so this is kind of a problem.

⚠ = no problem, tilda handles it fine
⚠️ = broken terminal

Works fine in mate-terminal -_-

This is all Google's fault for infecting Firefox with emoji character to picture nonsense...
