Do what you love and you won’t work a day in your life... because that field isn’t hiring.

@MostlyHarmless thankfully therapy work (which I love) is booming.

... Oh wait, that's quite sad.

@Thayer @MostlyHarmless well, you could argue a lot of people didn't go to therapy cause they felt like they didn't need it, are now actually going. So that's something kinda positive

@MostlyHarmless

There are openings in the field of supervision of very costly auto-complete systems as they iteratively appear to perform the tasks you used to be paid to do.

You will be seen as accountable for the output, but not recognized as responsible for it.

As with the systems themselves, those mandating their use are externalizing the costs onto you, and everyone else.

@MostlyHarmless I cheated by becoming a freelancer. Don't need to get hired! :p
@MostlyHarmless nah.. it's hiring, quite a lot. At low salaries and 60 hours weeks. No prospects after that, despite going above and beyond. And a few years put when the corporate machine has gutted all of youtr enthusiasm, you realise that you don't love it anymore, but you still need to pay your rent. It seems like Dante missed a circle in his description of hell, the biggest one at that..

Larry Niven's "Inferno" had the person who invented bureaucracy being stuck in the city of Dis trying to finish the paperwork, so he can leave... 🀦

@MostlyHarmless and if you do get a job in it, you won't love it anymore
@MostlyHarmless I did what I loved and it turned into apathy, then into resentment. So I retired.
@MostlyHarmless "Who will pay for cybersecurity?"
@MostlyHarmless @Beltliner403 it was, until recently. πŸ˜₯. Maybe, once chatbot tokens stop being nearly free ... 🀞

@MostlyHarmless Motor racing. Always wanted to be a racing driver. Tried to get in but without bags of money you get nowhere.

Too late now. I’m too old and have kidney disease.

@MostlyHarmless does sleeping needs any hiring? πŸ˜… I do sleeping because I love to sleep πŸ€—πŸ˜š
