Tony Kelly, in the G&M, wrote an article titled "Is Mark Carney the new model for Centrist Politics, or the End of the Line"

And I can't get over all the readers comments that he's not centre, he's left (or even far left)!

The assumption seems to be that government spending = left. No matter that the spending is on military, big tech, dirty energy, etc.

Weird bunch, those G&M commenters.

@PapyrusBrigade I'd say #MarkCarney is centre right, but I rarely read the #GlobeAndMail (also centre right, in my opinion).
@mpjgregoire @PapyrusBrigade Centre right is where I place him as well. Also farther to the right Justin Trudeau was.

@Chigaze @mpjgregoire @PapyrusBrigade

Yeah, I agree with this, somewhere around centre, centre right.

There are a small number of terminally online, extreme right-wing, populist nut-jobs that swamp media comment sections. It seams at least some are paid to drive engagement.

I was glad to see many of them just closing forums down. It would have been better to have tougher moderation, but they just don't have the resources.

Is there a similar phenomenon with extreme left-wingers swamping comment sections at the Toronto Star, let's say? I rarely read comments (other than at #MarginalRevolution) — there's not much value-added.
@mpjgregoire @Sir_Osis_of_Liver @Chigaze Extreme left wing? Not at The Star. Mostly between centre left and centre right.
