Prime Day starts today! There are thousands of deals on Amazon, but you can maximize your savings with this one hack:

Don’t buy anything.

@maxleibman Even better, you can celebrate Prime Day by spending on Amazon how much Amazon pay in tax, and then instead buy local, where the money stays in your community, rather than spent sending Millionaires up into the sky to be weightless for 2 minutes

@maxleibman

Does Amazon sell water? I heard that may soon be a luxury, weak biological things that people are.

@maxleibman

Jeff Bezos hates this one weird, money saving trick!

@ParadeGrotesque @maxleibman I was going to make that joke, but figured someone had already done it! πŸ˜„

@maxleibman Prime Day joins Black Friday as International Buy Nothing day becomes a semiannual event.
@maxleibman I’ve tried this and you know what? It works!
@maxleibman well, i have no car so i bought stuff i use: coffee filters, protein shakes, extra large granola. one day you may be old af and appreciate delivery.

@iamnotU @maxleibman I have no car but chose decades ago to live in a walkable neighbourhood. I am old AF and still walk to the store for granola bars and the like (I don't drink coffee).

I order some stuff for delivery, but usually it's bulky or heavy things, or things that are hard to find locally. And even then I rarely buy from Amazon. If it's a good product that is well-made there are other sources, and if it's cheap-ass crap I probably don't need it.

If you're trapped carless in a sprawly North American suburb I feel for you. I'm just pointing out that there are other options, albeit requiring long-term planning and sometimes some compromise. I don't have a huge back yard, and I have neighbours that talk to me. Not everyone likes to live like that, and that's OK.

@oclsc you don't have to feel for me. i chose to sell my car rather than pay for all the expenses that came with something i don't need. if i had a car and drove to the nearest stores i'd pay 2 or 3x what i pay on amzn, so i do what's best for myself rather than what's not in Jeff Bezos' interest. my prime card gives off more in rewards than the prime membership cost.

i do live in suburbia, did when i sold my car. i don't feel trapped. lived here 28 yrs. i too have neighbors that can talk.

@maxleibman More like Amazon Crime Day!

Cause Amazon essentially steals from local and small businesses and flips their prices, all while refusing to give said small businesses their fair share.

@maxleibman look it up on amazon then go buy it in a brick and mortar store if possible.
@maxleibman If you manage to not buy anything from Amazon for a whole year you get a free, not being responsive for someone having to piss in a bottle because they couldn't afford another break that day.
@maxleibman The only winning move is not to play.
@martijn @maxleibman
I knew the captain of the Kobayashi Maru, and Jeff Bezos is no Kobayashi Maru captain.
@maxleibman
I'm happily giving away things I don't need.
It's very enjoyable.
@maxleibman
Exactly. I refuse to subsidize the penis rocket and the yacht so big it has its own yacht. FTG!
@maxleibman
That, right there, is a pretty darn good hack, Max.
Gonna try it.
I'll let you know if it works.
Bong hits 4 Jesus.
@maxleibman or Check out No-Prime day at bookshop.org
@maxleibman
I saved over one million dollars wth that strategy!

@maxleibman

Somehow I don't think 'prime day' is about prime numbers at all. That is disappointing.

@maxleibman They always time it just before pay day so nobody can afford to shop anyway. Wonderful plan Amazon. Genius!
@maxleibman I swear, the majority of what I get on there is my shampoo and conditioner because I can't find it in physical stores where I live.
@maxleibman
When I started to read, I thought it's a holiday for prime numbers.
We should have that.
@maxleibman it smelled like a trap.......and it definitely was
@maxleibman the best deal on amazon prime day is to cancel prime
@maxleibman instructions unclear: traveled to another country so I'm spending a lot of money buying food and nights in hotels instead of saving money...
@maxleibman
Yay!!
The more we toot about boycotting, the healthier it is for HOMEGROWN DISCOURSE. Main stream media systematically distorts (ie omits) communication about boycotts.
