Just picked up this gorgeous sixties Philips radiogram for ten bucks, which is ridiculous. Look how beautiful it is!

#MidCentury #radio #recordplayer #radiogram

The radiogram has had some thorough investigation. It works, partially! Radio makes some sounds, it needs an antenna to pick up stations. Record player does not but could be a new belt is required. There's a green valve light that comes on and changes when you tune into a station, which is very cool. Needs some new capacitors. And legs, am on the hunt for some of those. Found one online that had been restored and sold for $4k! Insanity.
@vwdasher oh man, I *love* working on old valve gear!
@clanger9 I have a friend who is mad about old radios, so I will be consulting him on parts etc. This baby will work again!
@vwdasher it's a beauty! ❤️
@clanger9 I still can't believe I got it for a tenner!
@vwdasher does it actually still work? if not that would be cool to throw a little pc in there and use it as a media player
@makesubarugayagain I do not know yet! It needs a thorough clean first then will do some testing.

@vwdasher Looks you have a Philips Aristona Plano, enjoy :)

@fosdembsd that's it! Oh wow, it needs legs! Lovely, thank you for that! That electrical diagram will be handy.
@vwdasher
Gorgeous! From a time when radiograms were important pieces of furniture. Are the speakers built in?
@blingoali I think there's one, I haven't had the chance to examine it closely yet. It needs a good clean and some legs.
@vwdasher @blingoali Worth the purchase even if it doesn't work at all.
@ColesStreetPothole @blingoali absolutely. I'll be giving it a good check to see if it's safe to plugin and then see if it works, soon.
@vwdasher @blingoali I can smell that warming up from here. 😎
@vwdasher
We stopped at a cafe a year or two back and I grabbed a shot of their (I'd guess 80s) stereo. The vinyl sleeves give you an idea of the size of the thing 🤣
@blingoali just had a look and there's speakers built in in each end!
