Juneteenth is a reminder that none of this is ancient history. For example, people who think Emmett Till was "so long ago" should be reminded that 10 current members of Congress are older than him, and the white woman Carolyn Bryant who falsely accused him only died 3 years ago.

@QasimRashid It's recent enough history that Montana's Matt Rosendale opposed making Juneteenth a national holiday, calling it as focusing "on America's darkest moments."
We have people who see enforcing a ban on labor camps the dark part.
