Mia succumbed to her cancer today. I rang this morning to book her in to see the vet and while we waited, I wrapped her up in one of my jumpers and lay her in the sunshine.

She declined very quickly and by the time I carefully put her in the carrier to go to the appointment, she was very weak. On the way there, she cried a little bit and I sang Teddy Bear's Picnic to her so she knew she wasn't alone. By the time we got there, she was gone. The vet checked her with a stethoscope and gave me a hug and said it was better to go in a familiar place – and now I could plant an edible tree over her, which is a nice thought.
