halp i need to pack for both europe and san diego for a three week trip and need to not carry more than my backpacking pack if possible...
i know how to do this for the tropics when i am staying in one place the whole time & have laundry available but not so much varied climate and moving around a bunch....
maybe i just make a couple new pairs of linen pants
@rose_alibi Europe and San Diego are not so different nowadays, weather wise.
Scorching Heat for the Summer Solstice: The Dangerous Longevity of Europe’s New June Heatwave

The heat dome is arriving, bringing scorching temperatures and an early-season heatwave across Europe. Temperatures will surpass 40 °C across Iberia and France.

Severe Weather Europe
@ai6yr ok. i am not headed there til the end of july so that isn't super helpful.
@ai6yr also expectations for dress are very different in, like, venice vs on the beach in California
@rose_alibi @ai6yr summer weather can be anywhere from 20 (bad weather) to 40 (heat wave) degrees Celsius.
@pwassonchat this is information i already have but thank you. that information does not help me figure out how to pack.
@rose_alibi the implication here is that there is no way to know.
@pwassonchat continuing to be unhelpful, thanks!
@ai6yr @rose_alibi been having heat waves in Seattle for the past month...
well, we are not talking about travel to seattle.
@ai6yr @rose_alibi
We’re prepared, monsoon style rain north of Glasgow today.
@rose_alibi multi-climate is difficult. I’ve got a couple lightweight items I can layer on things to make them more formal / warm. But I have not yet perfected the perfect travel packing list.
Last big trip with demanding outfit needs I caved and brought a wheelie bag.
@Apiary i think part of my solution is going to be mailing a box of things to my collaborator in san diego... the bigger issue is that of course i am also travelling with a bunch of tools and weird electronics and those need to go to both places...
@Apiary so excited to explain my transducer collection at customs
@rose_alibi the last time I traveled through TSA with a project they said “please do not show me that”. And proceeded to ignore it.
It was pretty hilarious.
