Hello to everyone who has supported and/or shared this campaign. Your support has meant everything to us. We would not have been able to keep a roof over our heads, let alone anything else, without you all.
The TLDR is we are not out of the woods yet. We still need your help sharing our fundraiser, and donating if able. We partnered with a good lawyer to help with Kat's SSDI application, but it's still being reviewed, and there is no ETA on the approval.
More details:
We have spent the last few months trying to sculpt our life to fit into our new budget (only 1 income), and it's kind of working; we were able to get it to where we break even (bills only, this is before food/gas/meds etc.), which is not great, but it's better than being in the negatives for sure, which is where we had been for a while.
We are relying on food pantries even more now, and driving as little as possible to save on gas.
Your donations/boosts are the only reason we have been able to afford food, gas and medicine.
I don't think I wrote about this last update, but Kat's health took a nose dive this past fall/winter; they had multiple surgeries, were diagnosed with a new condition, and have been in recovery mode since then. Their health has stabilized somewhat, but that's relatively speaking. It's really a toss up each day, and their energy is often very limited.
Regarding our disabled sibling (who is our dependent): their SSDI application is also still in progress. We have a lawyer, and there will supposedly be a court date later this year, but it has not been scheduled yet. They are not doing well; their health is very poor.
what future donations will be going toward:
* Cat litter, Pet food
* Pet medicine (for our dog Loki, who has cancer)
* Oil changes for both cars/plate renewal for one of them, a gas
* Clothes (Kat has lost a lot of weight recently, and Ben needs socks)
* Medicine for Ben and Kat, and our sibling
* Groceries for Ben and Kat
* Other various Essentials for us and our sibling (examples: cough drops, mouth wash, toothpaste, HEPA filter replacements, water filter)
Our goal is to hopefully get around $1000 of donations over the course of June, but anything helps, even $1. If everyone who saw this gave a dollar, we would be set.
I can't emphasize enough how much we appreciate all the help and care from friends, acquaintances and strangers too. It means so much, especially during these difficult times, and shows us that there are still so many good people in the world (to outweigh the bad).
