🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🚍💷 The #Scottish Government has outlined plans to expand its £2 bus fare cap across #Scotland as part of efforts to help with the cost of living. Speaking during a debate on affordable bus fares, #Economy, #Tourism and #Transport Secretary Stephen Flynn said work is under way to extend the scheme beyond the current Highlands and Islands pilot, with an initial rollout planned in the #Strathclyde region.

The #government says its long-term aim is to introduce a nationwide £2 fare cap, making bus travel more affordable and encouraging greater use of public transport. Flynn said the measure builds on wider support, including the removal of peak rail fares and more than £530 million in funding for bus services and concessionary travel in 2026-27. He also highlighted the success of free bus travel for under-22s, which has recorded more than 300 million journeys since its introduction.
