@82mhz I'm not remotely "addicted" to my iPhone, but a Commodore flip phone?! Can't say I'm not tempted :)
@jbaty
Yeah, not going to like, that sounds exciting. Especially since I love this form factor. I'm keeping an eye on that!
Huh, very mixed feelings. On the one side it looks nice in general, but on photos it looks like an elephant (in comparison with a hand), also being able to run 99%(tm) Android apps sounds okay. On the flip side, price is a little high (IMO) for simplified smartphone. Also, I never had a Commodore, so I do not feel anemoia. Dunno. If it would be PDA, I would be more interested.

@bpl
I hope it's not as big as that 😄 Maybe they exaggerated it a bit for the photos.

A PDA would have been great, but this looks nice, I have to say. I had one with this form factor in the past and loved it, so I'm a little excited. The price is pretty steep tough, you're right...

@82mhz @bpl Interesting move. A „social notworking“ phone to talk, write and great camera would fit into a niche IMHO. Looking forward to the first reviews.

@Linkshaender
Me too... it looks interesting.

@bpl

@82mhz Wait, "no social media" doesn't include messaging? So it's the "Bavarian detox", aka. "I'm just drinking beer these days".
@82mhz Oh no I just bought a dumbphone yesterday, this one seems very cool! Swappable battery and transparent design 😭
And it's sailfish OS!
@82mhz okay saw the price, yeah I will stick to the 90€ dumbphone I just bought x)
@pikario @82mhz At $299 maybe, but 499 that’s a no from me.
@adx @pikario
It's pretty expensive, unfortunately...
@82mhz a decent sailfishOS phone with US LTE support would be kinda nice 🤔 this is surprising, as much as I personally hate T9 because I never could get used to it.
@Officeplant
I'm exactly the opposite, I loved T9 and never got used to using touchscreens ;)
@82mhz @Officeplant to be fair I didn't have texting access until android phones got cheap prepaid models and I got my own phone plan. All my flipphone years we under the threat of parental violence if I used more than a few texts a month at 10¢ a text (receiving and sending)
@Officeplant
Ah, got it. I used mobile phones with a T9 keyboard for 10 years before touch screen phones became a thing, so I got very good at typing messages this way ;)
@82mhz 2004-2012 so not quite as long but a long time spent in the hell that was 500-1000 minutes a month shared between three people. I did used to envy my college roommate who could respond via t9 without even looking at his phone.

@Officeplant
I could do that ;) But now if you gave me a T9 phone I'd be lost...

And I remember the days of a limited number of minutes (and SMS messages) too... it was very annoying at times!
