The former Tory, and now Reform far-right MP, Robert Jenrick, has set out in the Daily Telegraph his ideas on tax reform, for which programme he is now responsible on the Reform bench, such as it is. His proposal is that the UK tax system should become explicitly racist by design....

#Jenrick may have had an extensive and expensive education (Cambridge, University of Pennsylvania and the University of Law) but he’s still a humanities graduate playing at being shadow chancellor. It was amusing to see the all but forgotten shadow Tory chancellor, Mel Stride, also pick apart his uncosted tax cuts.

@RichardJMurphy In my own field of physics education, left hand of government has been paying £30k bursary to train overseas physics teachers and right hand has just cut length of period of post-training work covered by student visa, undermining left hand. If you disliked immigration, another angle would be 'how can we persuade more British people to become physics teachers?' UK goverment appears bereft of anyone who can imagine how to do that, nor does it listen to experts.
