A non-potted C64 power supply. Wonderful! I can replace the innards with some modern replacements and keep the vintage vibe. #retrocomputing #commodore
Old innards. #retrocomputing
New innards and new position. Old guys were held in place by the case. New bits might need a 3d print or some epoxy. Unsure of the best method here. It sure isn’t potting the whole thing however. πŸ€ͺ #retrocomputing #commodore
@seanwbruno What is going on there? The rectifier soldered directly on the transformer? Ok, but the fuses between the taps? I'm not an engineer but it looks like bad manners..
@wespi Excellent questions that I have like zero clue about. I can say that you're looking the "output" side of the transformer. So in this design the a/c input is being modified before its shoveled into the 5v dc rectifier.
@seanwbruno Their knowledge is lost, but their monuments still stand.
I've got a hammond organ. It looks like a spaceship from the 70s if you open the rear.
@seanwbruno And, of course, it still works
