I want to set up a #Jellyfin server. But my concern is I'll spend the two hundred plus on say a 6 to 8 terabyte drive and I'll spend more time configuring it and adding content than actually watching it. It's going to be #RetroPie all over again.
@RomanOnARiver
The server and client installs are pretty easy.. the real question, and time, is how you want to use it. Its my primary entertainment and I add some every few weeks, maybe a couple hours..and have a good collection. Ya prolly download and copying around heavy upfront but ya dont have to do it all at once.. good luck 😊

@RomanOnARiver

Isn't that the point? lol

On a a serious note, if you have a broad idea of the architecture, then deployment should be straightforward. It is a well established ecosystem.

@RomanOnARiver But there is something deeply satisfying to having a well curated list of movies and shows with great metadata and artwork at your finger tips.
@RomanOnARiver Build a VM host and then build the Jellyfin server in a VM, that way you can share that hard drive space across multiple servers.
@RomanOnARiver I probably spend a similar amount of time just checking out which actors were in what else in my library. That’s almost better than watching. How many degrees of Kevin Bacon can I get? (I don’t have enough of his movies!) 🙂

@RomanOnARiver jellyfin is the reason why we don't pay for Amazon (ad free, we keepet prime because the delivery fees), Netflix, Disney, wow, etc anymore.

Automation is key.
