A nearby town temporarily has free parking everywhere because the payment system currently redirects to a porn site
Truly incredible
@usernameswift
Opsie
Hackers doing a silly again.
@Paradox @[email protected] hackers or just a service that went under and had its domains bought by someone else?
@jay0 @usernameswift
I find that harder to believe for a permanent fixture like parking. Especially given the "temporarily free" qualifier. It sounds like it was recently functional.
Yours would make sense to me if the payment service only existed years ago.
@usernameswift this could never happen in Britain, but for two reasons: 1) car parks and street parking must have a ticket machine, 2) we have a worse problem where you need seven parking apps because each parking conglomerate has their own app, and each public parking provider partners with a different parking payment provider
@[email protected] @[email protected] yeah but the free market yassie, this is just pure unfiltered capitalistic freedom of choice (for the companies, the customers can eat shit), why do you hate progress
@[email protected] @[email protected] ...though actually now i have to wonder, how many of these parking app companies even offer anything different from each other? for all i know these companies are actually just monopolies inside mini-regions and companies cant switch provider even if they wanted to

@frawst @usernameswift well, there is good news! The Dept for Transport is forcing them to work together under the National Parking Platform, so no matter what app you use, it HAS to show, and let you pay for, ANY car park or street parking, even if a competitor

This means the only thing these apps would have to compete on is their service quality, and thank god for that, because about three or four of them are actually any good quality

@[email protected] did someone forget to renew their domain registration
@tay They refuse to say, which tells me that it's something embarrassing like that
