Academia often tries to tame and contain culture, the results are often awkward. Though I didn't attend the brooklyn show, more than one person said it was pretty good.
For old zines, I think it's less problematic, maybe, especially when the context has passed and actual explanation is needed. That's today, tomorrow I may change my mind!
Yes! I read it. I totally agree with you. Of course all of mine are now old enough that context is lost, so lots of it needs explaining. Since H.C. is "out of the world" now I'm less concerned with the containering.
But you're writing current stuff, so all that may be closer to home.
Yeah, me too -- it was too far and $$$ to see a zine show, and I'm not sure I know folks to crash and visit with there.
It does seem like a very well done show, so maybe my opening remark is too cynical here.
