Dear #linuxaudio community,

To serve as a good #startingpoint for setting up a #linux based #daw, do you think the new Hardware/Software Recipes section on the LAD website is complete, or is there key information missing that I should add?

https://linuxaudio.dev/hardware-software-recipes/

Thank you for your support in advance! πŸ™Œ

@linuxaudiodevelopment the website is awesome. Maybe you can create a group or forum for discussion. Friendica World has nice features we all can use.

@visionalfreeman Thank you for your feedback! πŸ™Œ

Something for discussion is already on my to do list. 😎

@linuxaudiodevelopment
Ooohhh that's cool !
Never think about that
Maybe adding hardware midi stuff connect with USB, because they're some specific driver / software like ROLI
Also, DAW is just one piece of music production, a central one but still a piece. Like plugins for example, a lot of it are not compatible or hard to make it functional. And additional software for sound design, writing sheet and so and so...
But it's a good start and it's great !

@spoonmaniac Thank you so much for your feedback! πŸ™Œ

I added quite a few more fields to store such information in the meantime. However, they are currently not visible on my recipe.

I intend to publish some kind of a submission form for musicians and developers to publish their recipes soon. πŸ™

@linuxaudiodevelopment Nice post. Probably some system settings like memlock and rtprio or midi bridges like a2jmidid (alsa-to-jack) or pw-midi. Patchbays can be an interesting inclusion.

@tumillanino Thank you for your feedback! πŸ™Œ

I will try to add fields for such information asap!

@linuxaudiodevelopment

Maybe allow to have multiple values in each field ?
As soundguy, i try to use the right tool for each project, and i think that this diversity is the most useful point.

On some projet i don't use any DAW, just some stand-alone or plugins in carla for exemple.

Maybe the sound server is an important point also.

@wargreen Makes sense. Thank you for your feedback! πŸ™Œ

Most fields already allow for multiple entries.

The sound server field is already included.

Would you like to submit your recipe? Right now I don't have the submit form ready but could share a Front Matter file to fill in the details.

@linuxaudiodevelopment

Hum yup i can fill a file with some of my tools.

I also have this tools library (fr) : https://l2m2p.lebib.org/?LesOutils

Cherchez ici l'outil de vos rΓͺves

L2M2P est une base d'information communautaire sur les outils libres de production multimedia et pour la scène

@wargreen Cool! Can I send you the blueprint via email?

@linuxaudiodevelopment this is so cool!

I think it works really well as a starting point.

Perhaps adding Yabridge?
Is there room for two daws if someone uses that?

@mosgaard yabridge, good point! I will add it! πŸ™Œ

I am also adding an entire developer section.

Would you like to contribute your artist recipe?

Yes, most fields allow for multiple entries.

I want to work on a means for artists and developers to add their recipes via a easy accessible form. πŸ™

@linuxaudiodevelopment of course!

@mosgaard Initial version is online. 😎 I will get in touch with you soon to gather additional information. Right now I have to go to bed… πŸ«£πŸ˜…

@linuxaudiodevelopment this means for the next 12 hours, we are the only Linux musicians in the world πŸ˜‚

Sleep well!
