Users cry foul after AMD stripped memory crypto from its consumer CPUs

AMD's stripping of TSME from consumer CPUs appears to be a deliberate, covert move.

@sambowne Also: TSME is transparent secure memory encryption, not Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. I shall own my confusion.

@sambowne More importantly, pulling a security feature from your chips without notice is very bad. AMD ought to explain: was there a security flaw? If not, why not advertise that people who want this feature need to pay extra?

(That is, if the argument was product differentiation, they’re doing a mind boggling poor job of that, so there is likely an alternative explanation and try as I might I can’t think of anything but a security flaw)
