what if the real reason for the social media ban is so that young people can't make friends internationally and thus don't find out that things are better elsewhere, or that Other Opinions also exist.

You gave me the right answer but what I wanted to know is how the authorities benefit from denying the children their rights of connection and communication through social media. However, your answer has given me the answer to that question. This isn't about protecting children but indirectly attacking democracy and progress. I don't know if anyone realizes that.
